Strapless Heart Rate Monitors – A Fad or Useful Tool?

Whenever you hear about heart rate monitors the first thing that springs to mind is an endurance athlete training for hours on end – covered in sweat and exhausted. Indeed until recently this was a well deserved perception as endurance athletes were the first to embrace the technology of heart rate monitors and they also cost an arm and a leg!

But no longer. Certainly price is not an issue – a good heart rate monitor costs about the same as a watch, and with similar functions too. The barrier for most people wanting to use a heart rate monitor for extended periods of time was and still is the chest strap, it can be uncomfortable to wear all day.
