Different Types of Laxatives You Can Use to Get Constipation Relief

The types of laxatives to relieve constipation are categorized into: lubricants, bulk-forming laxatives, saline laxatives, stimulant laxatives, stool softeners, and combinations of one or two types. All these types of laxatives give you constipation relief in different ways.

Lubricants, like glycerin suppositories lubricate the inner anus to make it easier for you to pass out the hardened stools. They coat the surface of the bowel and helps in absorbing water for the stools to make them pass out easily.

Bulk-forming laxatives ease constipation by adding water and “bulk” to your stools. The bigger stools help in getting the bowel to contract and then passing the stools out.
